4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1 lemon

Salt and pepper to taste

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prep the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the woody ends, cutting about an inch from the bottom.

Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Cook the Asparagus: Add the asparagus to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they begin to turn bright green and slightly tender, stirring occasionally.

Add Garlic: Toss in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for another 1-2 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant but not burnt.

Lemon Zest and Juice: Remove from heat and sprinkle the lemon zest over the asparagus. Drizzle the lemon juice on top and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
