Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Cooked white or brown rice, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and beef broth. Set aside.

Sauté Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until bright green and slightly tender. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set it aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for another minute, ensuring the beef is fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the garlic, ginger, and red bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and the bell pepper begins to soften.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef and broccoli to the pan. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir to combine well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little water to reach your desired consistency.

Finish and Serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, give everything a final toss, and serve over cooked rice. Enjoy your vibrant and flavorful stir-fry!
