Air Fryer Parmesan Crusted Tilapia

4 tilapia fillets (about 6 oz each)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup panko breadcrumbs

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 large egg

1 tbsp lemon juice

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Prep the Tilapia: Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.

    Prepare the Breading Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

      Make the Egg Wash: In another bowl, whisk the egg with lemon juice until well blended.

        Coat the Tilapia: Dip each tilapia fillet into the egg wash, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow excess egg to drip off. Then, dredge the fillets in the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture, pressing down slightly to adhere the coating.

          Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

            Air Fry the Fillets: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated tilapia fillets in a single layer in the basket (you may need to do this in batches). Lightly spray the tops of the fillets with cooking spray to help them crisp up.

              Cook the Tilapia: Air fry the fillets at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and flaky, flipping halfway through cooking for even crispiness.

                Serve: Once done, remove the tilapia from the air fryer and garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
