Ingredients

For the fruit filling:

4 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced

2 cups fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the crumble topping:

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup light brown sugar, packed

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 pinch of salt

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Prepare the fruit filling:

      - In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, blackberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Stir gently to coat the fruit evenly.

        - Transfer the fruit mixture to a greased 9-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

          Make the crumble topping:

            - In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together.

              - Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly and well-combined. It should resemble wet sand with some larger clumps.

                Assemble the crumble:

                  - Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the fruit filling in the baking dish.

                    Bake:

                      - Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.

                        Cool and serve:

                          - Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
