Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Blueberry Filling:

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk (or more for desired consistency)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to come together.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Add more flour if necessary to prevent sticking.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring gently until the mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat and let cool.

Roll the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it back to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 12x18 inches.

Assemble the Rolls: Spread the cooled blueberry filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the seam to seal.

Slice the Rolls: Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces. Place the slices cut-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each one for expansion.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffed.

Preheat and Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Make the Glaze: While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese glaze by mixing the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired consistency.

Glaze and Serve: Once the rolls are done baking, let them cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls and serve immediately. Enjoy the delightful blueberry sweetness!
