1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts (optional for added crunch)

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk together until well combined and smooth.

      Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, to the mixture, blending thoroughly after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract until it is fully incorporated.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

          Mix Dry with Wet: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

              Prepare the Skillet: Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or an oven-safe non-stick skillet with cooking spray or a little butter to prevent sticking.

                Bake the Cookie: Pour the cookie dough into the skillet, spreading it evenly to the edges. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is slightly gooey.
