Ingredients

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. If you’re using nuts, chop them finely and add them to the mixture.

Roll Out the Dough: Open the can of crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it. Separate the dough into triangles along the perforated lines.

Add the Filling: Brush each crescent triangle with melted butter, ensuring you cover the entire surface. Then, sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar mixture over each triangle. Make sure to leave a small border at the wide end.

Twist the Crescents: Starting from the wide end, gently roll the crescent dough towards the pointed end, forming a log. Once rolled up, slightly twist each roll to create a spiral effect.

Egg Wash: Place the twisted crescents onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden brown finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Serve: Once out of the oven, allow the twists to cool slightly. Optionally, drizzle a bit more melted butter on top and sprinkle with any leftover cinnamon sugar mixture for an extra sweet touch.

Enjoy: Serve warm as a delightful breakfast treat or a tasty snack!
