Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 8-inch round cake pans, lining the bottoms with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      Make the Cake Batter:

        - In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

          - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

            - Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

              Divide the Batter:

                - Divide the cake batter evenly into three bowls.

                  - In the first bowl, add the cocoa powder and mix until well combined for the chocolate layer.

                    - In the second bowl, add the strawberry puree and mix for the strawberry layer.

                      - The third bowl will remain as vanilla.

Bake the Layers: Pour the chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry batters into the prepared pans. Smooth the tops and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

                            Make the Frosting:

                              - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, followed by the vanilla extract and heavy cream until you reach a spreadable consistency.

                                - Divide the frosting into three bowls. Mix cocoa powder into one for chocolate frosting and strawberry puree into another for strawberry frosting. The last bowl will remain as vanilla frosting.

                                  Assemble the Cake:

                                    - Place the chocolate cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of chocolate frosting on top.

                                      - Place the vanilla cake layer on top and spread with vanilla frosting.

                                        - Finally, add the strawberry cake layer and frost the top and sides with the remaining frosting.

Decorate: Decorate the top of the cake with fresh strawberry halves, chocolate shavings, and sprinkles, if desired.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy this delightful blend of flavors as you cozy up with friends and family!
