At the heart of Creamy Beef and Shells is the combination of ground beef and medium shell pasta. Ground beef serves as a flavorful and protein-packed base, enriching the dish with its savory taste and satisfying texture. When selecting your ground beef, consider using a leaner variety (such as 80/20) to reduce excess grease while still retaining flavor. The medium shell pasta, with its unique shape, is perfect for holding onto the creamy sauce, making each bite a delightful experience.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

8 oz medium shell pasta

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup frozen peas (optional)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta:

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the shell pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Brown the Beef:

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.

          Create the Sauce:

To the skillet with the beef, add the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Let this mixture cook for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.

              Combine Pasta and Sauce:

Incorporate the cooked shell pasta into the creamy beef mixture. Stir well to ensure the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce. If using, add the frozen peas and mix to combine. Allow to heat through for another 2-3 minutes.

                  Add Cheese:

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary.

                      Serve:

Spoon the creamy beef and shells into bowls, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and enjoy your warm, delicious meal!
