Ingredients

2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Fresh berries or fruit toppings (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and lay it evenly across the bottom of the greased casserole dish, pressing the seams together to create a solid layer.

Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated. Then, add the sour cream and lemon zest (if using) and blend until everything is well combined.

Assemble the Casserole: Pour the creamy cheesecake filling over the layer of crescent dough in the casserole dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula.

Top with Crescent Rolls: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it over the cheesecake filling, again pressing the seams together to form a solid layer.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set. You can check for doneness by gently shaking the dish; the center should not wiggle significantly.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for at least 10-15 minutes. Dust the top with powdered sugar before slicing into squares.

Garnish: Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with fresh berries or your favorite fruit preserves.
