Ingredients

250g halloumi cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

Vegetable oil, for frying

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Halloumi: Cut the halloumi into rectangular sticks (about 1 cm thick) to resemble fingers. This will help ensure even cooking and maximize texture.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder in the first; beat the eggs in the second; and combine the breadcrumbs with smoked paprika in the third.

Bread the Halloumi: Take one halloumi stick and dip it first into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, dredge the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs well. Repeat for all halloumi sticks.

Fry the Halloumi: Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, add the breaded halloumi fingers in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.

Cooking Time: Fry the halloumi for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to turn them carefully, ensuring they cook evenly.

Drain and Serve: Once golden, remove the halloumi fingers from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Garnish: Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for a zesty kick.
