Ingredients

12 oz ziti pasta

10 oz fresh spinach, chopped

2 cups marinara sauce

1 cup ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil for drizzling

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the ziti pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the spinach: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese, cooked spinach, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Combine ziti with sauce: In a separate bowl, mix the cooked ziti with marinara sauce. Stir well to coat the pasta.

Layer the dish: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture in an even layer. Next, spoon the ricotta and spinach mixture evenly over the top. Finally, layer the remaining ziti on top.

Top with cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top of the ziti.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil if desired, then serve hot.
