Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 lb (450g) chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons dried oregano

2 teaspoons dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Cooking oil (for frying)

For the Ranch Dip:

1 cup sour cream

½ cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried dill

1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken tenders, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours for best flavor).

Prepare the Breading Station: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second dish, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. This will create a flavorful coating.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the marinade. Let any excess liquid drip off, then dredge each tender in the flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip them back into the buttermilk, followed by coating in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure they adhere well.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about ½ inch of cooking oil over medium heat until shimmering (around 350°F or 175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle.

Fry the Chicken Tenders: Carefully place the breaded chicken tenders in the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C). Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.

Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove tenders from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Make the Ranch Dip: In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, chives, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste. For extra freshness, add a squeeze of lemon juice.

Plate and Enjoy: Serve the crispy garlic herb chicken tenders hot with the homemade ranch dip on the side for dipping. Enjoy your deliciously crunchy and flavorful meal!
