Ingredients

For the Gingerbread Waffles:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

2 large eggs

⅓ cup unsulfured molasses

¼ cup brown sugar

⅓ cup melted butter (plus extra for greasing the waffle maker)

For the Vanilla Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Waffle Maker: Start by preheating your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease the plates with some melted butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add in the milk, molasses, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.

Incorporate the Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cook the Waffles: Pour an appropriate amount of the batter onto the preheated waffle maker (usually about ¾ cup, but it depends on your waffle maker). Close the lid and cook according to your waffle maker's instructions until golden brown and crisp.

Prepare the Vanilla Glaze: While the waffles are cooking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add a bit more milk; if it’s too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.

Serve: Once the waffles are cooked, remove them from the waffle maker and place them on a plate. Drizzle generously with the vanilla glaze. You can also add toppings like whipped cream, chopped nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flair.

Enjoy: Serve your delightful gingerbread waffles warm with your favorite sides like fresh fruit or yogurt, and enjoy the festive flavors!
