Ingredients

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup diced green chilies (canned or fresh)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

6 slices of crusty bread (such as sourdough or ciabatta)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined.

Add Flavor: Fold in the diced green chilies, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Prepare the Bread: Drizzle olive oil on both sides of the slices of bread, then place them on a baking sheet.

Toast the Bread: Place the bread in the preheated oven and toast for about 5 minutes, or until lightly golden brown and crispy.

Assemble the Melts: Remove the toasted bread from the oven and generously spread the chicken and cheese mixture on top of each slice.

Return to Oven: Place the loaded toast back in the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and begins to turn golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley or green onions, and cut into halves or quarters for easy serving.
