Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cups frozen hashbrowns

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup sour cream

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup milk

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess grease and set aside.

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until smooth and combined.

Combine Ingredients: To the milk and cheese mixture, add the cooked ground beef and onion, and then fold in the frozen hashbrowns until everything is well incorporated.

Transfer to Casserole Dish: Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter. Pour the beef and hashbrown mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.

Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole. If using breadcrumbs for added crunch, sprinkle them evenly over the cheese.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden and crispy.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This will allow the casserole to set up a bit. Serve warm and enjoy!
