Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture for glazing the salmon later.

Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a zip-top bag. Pour the remaining marinade over the salmon, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, but preferably 1-2 hours for enhanced flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Using a slotted spoon, remove the salmon fillets from the marinade and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Bake the Salmon: Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Add the Glaze: During the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the reserved marinade over the salmon fillets for a delicious glaze. Be careful not to let it burn!

Broil for Crispiness (optional): If you desire a caramelized finish, switch your oven to broil and broil the salmon for an additional 2-3 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately. Pair it with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
