Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 lb (450 g) fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest and juice of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prep the Ingredients: Before you start cooking, ensure all your ingredients are measured and ready. Peel and devein the shrimp, trim the asparagus, and mince the garlic.

Cook the Asparagus: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the asparagus. Season with a pinch of salt and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Remove the asparagus from the pan and set aside.

Sauté the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil shimmers, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant (do not let it burn). Next, add the shrimp, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until the shrimp turn pink, then flip them over.

Add Lemon Flavor: Once the shrimp are flipped, pour in the lemon juice and zest. Stir everything together and let it cook for another minute or two until the shrimp are fully cooked through and coated in the lemon garlic sauce.

Combine and Serve: Return the sautéed asparagus to the skillet and toss everything gently to combine. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
