Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup maple syrup (for muffins)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a standard muffin tin or line it with paper liners.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and maple syrup until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay!

Fill Muffin Tin: Evenly divide the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full.

Bake: Bake for approximately 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool Muffins: Once baked, let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Glaze: In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk. Whisk until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.

Glaze the Muffins: Dip the tops of the cooled muffins into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off, or drizzle the glaze over the muffins for a decorative touch.

Serve & Enjoy: Let the glaze set for a few minutes, then enjoy these delightful Maple Glazed Donut Muffins with your coffee or tea!
