Ingredients

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works great)

1/2 cup basil pesto

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean and lightly floured surface. Pinch seams together to create a single sheet of dough.

Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, basil pesto, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.

Spread the Filling: Carefully spread the filling mixture evenly over the crescent dough, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges.

Roll It Up: Starting from one end, tightly roll the dough into a log shape. Make sure to keep it uniformly tight to ensure pinwheels hold their shape.

Slice the Pinwheels: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pinwheels. You should get about 12 pinwheels.

Arrange on the Baking Sheet: Place the pinwheels cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out to allow for expansion while baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and cooked through.

Cool and Garnish: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Serve: Enjoy your Mini Chicken Pesto Crescent Pinwheels warm or at room temperature. They make for a delicious appetizer or a snack!
