Ingredients

For the Crust and Topping:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling:

1 cup Nutella (or any hazelnut spread)

1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts (optional, for added crunch)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Prepare the Crust Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.

Mix in Butter and Vanilla: Add the melted butter and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve about 1 cup of this mixture for topping, and press the remaining mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.

Spread the Nutella: Carefully spread the Nutella over the crust, ensuring an even layer. If you’re using chopped hazelnuts, sprinkle them evenly over the Nutella.

Add the Crumb Topping: Take the reserved crumb mixture and sprinkle it generously over the Nutella layer, covering it completely.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the edges are slightly bubbling.

Cool and Cut: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Serve and Enjoy: Once cooled, cut into bars and serve! These Nutella crumb bars can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature, and they make a great treat for any occasion.
