Asparagus is a key player in this dish, providing a delightful crunch that complements the juicy shrimp. To achieve the perfect texture, begin by trimming the woody ends of the asparagus. You can do this by gently bending the stalk until it snaps; this natural breaking point will ensure you remove the tougher parts.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

4 tablespoons olive oil, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 lemon, zested and juiced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp to the bowl, tossing to coat well. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes while you prepare the asparagus.

Cook the Asparagus: In a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the asparagus and season with salt and pepper. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes, until they start to become tender but still crisp. Remove asparagus from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the marinated shrimp along with all the marinade. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.

Combine and Serve: Return the sautéed asparagus to the pan with the shrimp. Toss everything together just until heated through for about 1-2 minutes. Taste and adjust for seasoning, adding more lemon juice or red pepper flakes if desired.

Garnish and Enjoy: Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
