Ingredients

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted

4 large eggs

1 cup corn syrup (light or dark)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, melted butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix everything until well combined and the sugar has dissolved.

Layer the ingredients: Pour the pecan mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly to cover the bottom.

Add the cake mix: Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the pecan mixture, letting it sit on top without mixing it in. This will create a cake-like topping once baked.

Bake the dump cake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly. The center may still appear slightly jiggly, which is normal.

Cool and serve: Allow the dump cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm on its own, or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
