1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

¾ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

1 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup buttermilk (or milk with a splash of vinegar)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp heavy cream (or milk for desired consistency)

Prepare the Oven and Baking Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
