Ingredients

1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 teaspoons vegetable oil (for cooking)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/2 cup beef broth or water

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to enhance the flavor and tenderize the meat.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the beef broth (or water) with sesame oil and crushed red pepper flakes, if using. Set aside.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they turn bright green and are just tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside.

Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger; stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Let it sear for about 1-2 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry continuously for another 3-4 minutes until it’s browned and cooked through.

Combine and Simmer: Return the broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir everything together and let it cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the stir-fry to serving dishes. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
