Ingredients

1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled

1 cup pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes

1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp powdered sugar

12 bamboo skewers (6 inches or longer)

Optional: Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Strawberries: Wash the strawberries under cold water and gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Make sure they’re hulled to eliminate the green tops.

Prepare the Pound Cake: If using store-bought pound cake, slice it into 1-inch cubes. If making homemade, bake a simple pound cake in advance and, once cooled, cut it into cubes.

Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, add the whipped cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to whip the cream until soft peaks form. Avoid overwhipping.

Assemble the Kabobs: Take a bamboo skewer and start by threading on one strawberry. Follow it with a cube of pound cake. Add another strawberry, then another cube of pound cake. Continue alternating until the skewer is filled, leaving a little space at the ends for easier handling. Aim for about 3 strawberries and 3 cake cubes per skewer.

Add Whipped Cream: Once all the kabobs are assembled, serve them alongside a small bowl of whipped cream for dipping. Alternatively, you can drizzle some whipped cream over the skewers for a decorative touch.

Garnish (optional): If desired, add a few mint leaves on the plate or on top of the kabobs for a fresh flavor and visual appeal.

Serve: These kabobs are best served immediately but can be refrigerated for an hour or so if prepared in advance. Enjoy the refreshing taste of strawberries combined with sweet whipped cream and fluffy cake!
