Ingredients

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup unsweetened apple sauce

1/2 cup protein powder (vanilla or apple pie flavor)

1/4 cup almond butter (or your favorite nut butter)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup diced dried apples (or fresh apple chunks)

1/4 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

1/4 cup raisins or cranberries (optional)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, protein powder, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir until the dry ingredients are evenly mixed.

Combine the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple sauce, almond butter, and honey (or maple syrup) until smooth and well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, and mix until fully incorporated. Make sure there are no dry patches left.

Add the Extras: Gently fold in the diced dried apples, walnuts or pecans, and raisins or cranberries (if using). Ensure everything is evenly distributed.

Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for about 30 minutes. This will make it easier to form the bites.

Form the Bites: Once chilled, use your hands to roll the mixture into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter. You should get around 12-15 protein bites.

Optional Coating: If you’d like, you can roll the bites in more shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or additional cinnamon for a delightful finishing touch.

Store and Serve: Place the protein bites in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to one week. Enjoy them as a quick snack or a post-workout treat!
