Ingredients

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornmeal

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup water (more if needed)

1/2 cup sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 tablespoon olive oil

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Broccoli: Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Make sure they are uniform so they cook evenly.

Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while stirring, until you achieve a thick but pourable batter.

Coat the Broccoli: Dip each broccoli floret into the batter, making sure it's well-coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off before placing it on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake the Broccoli: Bake the battered broccoli in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through for even cooking.

Prepare the Sauce: While the broccoli is baking, heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant (do not burn). Stir in the sweet chili sauce and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Toss the Broccoli: Once the broccoli bites are crispy and golden, remove them from the oven and place them in a large bowl. Drizzle the sweet chili garlic sauce over the top and toss gently to coat each bite.

Serve: Transfer the coated broccoli bites to a serving plate. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for a pop of color and added flavor.
