1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup whole milk

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

For the Vanilla Buttercream:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2-4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

A pinch of salt

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

        Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.

          Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

            Fill the Cupcake Liners: Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
